The Faculty of Arts at the University of British Columbia – Vancouver invites applications for the position of Director of the School of Social Work, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2019. We expect that the successful candidate will have a record of research publications and scholarship activity commensurate with appointment at the rank of full Professor; however, exceptional candidates at the senior Associate Professor level also will be considered. The successful candidate will hold an MSW and PhD in Social Work or a related field and bring to the position a distinguished record of research, excellence in teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, graduate supervision, academic leadership, and strong communication skills across diverse partnering groups. A demonstrated ability and commitment to play a significant leadership role within the School, the University and the wider community – both local and international – is also expected. Situated in the Faculty of Arts, the School offers nationally accredited professional BSW and MSW programs and a PhD degree. We have a strong commitment to social justice, promoting Indigenous rights, research excellence, community-based practice, and international visibility.
