International Partners:

  1. Legislative Bureau, China Ministry of Civil Affairs
  2. Institute of Social Development and Public Policy Beijing Normal University

Brief Description: This project was to assist the Legislative Bureau of China Ministry of Civil Affairs, which has been charged to draft the first Charity Law in China, to solicit international knowledge of and best practice in charity law. Funded largely by ZeShan Foundation and two other private donors, this project successfully organized two international symposiums in summers of 2006 and 2007 in Vancouver and Beijing respectively. Together more than 40 experts from more than eight countries had shared valuable information of and discussed critical issues of charitable legislations of their home country. The Legislative Bureau has recently published a Chinese collection of more than thirty papers presented in these two symposiums in China.
