Assistant Professor Barbara Lee from UBC’s School of Social Work is one of the recipients of the Spring 2025 Partnership Recognition and Exploration (PRE) Fund grant for her project What We Wish We Knew: Reimagining Training for Kinship Families and Social Workers, developed in partnership with Shari Monsma of Fairness for Children Raised By Relatives.
About the PRE Fund: The PRE Fund provides up to $1,500 to bridge small resource gaps and support the development of new or existing community-university relationships. Since 2017, the fund has invested over $667,873 in 445 partnerships, with approximately 40% of funding supporting IBPOC-led projects, including 25% Indigenous-led.
The PRE Fund enables UBC students, faculty, and staff to build reciprocal relationships with community partners through teaching and research. These partnerships reflect UBC’s commitment to ethical engagement, experiential learning, and community-led impact.
