Celebrating Excellence in Teaching and Learning: Three Social Work Faculty Recognized with AMS Champion Awards

Antoine Coulombe, Marie Nightbird and Kelly Allison
The School of Social Work is proud to share that three faculty members were recognized at the 2025 Teaching and Learning Champions Gala with AMS Champion Awards.
Marie Nightbird and Kelly Allison received the prestigious OER Innovation and Impact Award which honours individuals who have made significant contributions to the use of open educational resources at UBC. OERs are teaching, learning, and research resources that are free of cost and access barriers, and also carry legal permission for open use, helping to alleviate financial burdens for students.
Meanwhile, Antoine Coulombe was honoured with the new Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Champion Award, introduced by the Alma Mater Society (AMS) in 2025. UDL is an approach that recognizes learner diversity and reduces barriers to education, so all students have the opportunity to succeed.
We congratulate all three award recipients for their dedication and leadership!
