Barbara Lee and Team Win Kx Challenge in UBC’s Fellowship Program

This spring, UBC launched the inaugural KxM Research to Impact Fellowship, a new initiative designed to build capacity among early-career researchers to mobilize knowledge effectively across academic, policy, nonprofit, and community settings.

The 7-week program program welcomed a cohort of 20 outstanding graduate students and postdoctoral fellows from across UBC representing a variety of disciplines. The School of Social Work was proudly represented by Assistant Professor Barbara Lee, one of the UBC KxM Scholars and a mentor in the program.

Working in four interdisciplinary teams, participants took on a real-world challenge from Foundry BC  – strengthening the use of research evidence across its provincial office and youth service centres. Teams received guidance from experienced mentors and UBC KxM Scholars as they developed strategic knowledge mobilization plans. The program culminated in a live pitch event judged by a panel of scholars and sector partners.

Barbara Lee’s team won the Kx Challenge, congratulations!
