On April 15th, the UBC School of Social Work and the UN Association of Canada (Vancouver branch) held our annual Richard Splane Lecture in Social Policy. Lisa Lapointe, BC’s Chief Coroner of 13 years (2011-2024), spoke about the knowledge acquired in facing the province’s drug toxicity crisis. She presented statistical evidence and data on this issue and expanded on the changes needed to prevent further loss of life.
