90th Anniversary Symposium

To mark the 90th Anniversary of the School of Social Work we are holding a Symposium on Social Justice and an Ethic of Care – Feb 24 & 25. The Symposium will open with a keynote address from Prof. Christine Morley, Queensland University of Technology, Australia (details below). The Symposium continues the next day with research papers and panels from 9:00 am to 5 pm at Jack Bell School of Social Work, 2080 West Mall, UBC. Agenda and Abstracts can be found here. The event is co-sponsored with the Department of Applied Social Sciences, Hong Kong Polytechnic.

Keynote and Keynote Registration: The Keynote for our 90th Anniversary Symposium on Social Justice and Social Care has been confirmed. Professor Christine Morley, Queensland University of Technology, will speak on “Reactivating Social Work Practice as an Emancipatory Project: The Role of Critical Theory, Pedagogy and Reflection”. The keynote is from 5:30 to 7 pm on Feb. 24 (Room: The Place of Many Trees, Liu Institute for Global Issues, UBC) and is open to the public. Please click here for more info.
