Red Dress Day 2023

DATE
Friday May 5, 2023

The UBC School of Social Work recognizes May 5 as a day to remember missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. We challenge you to strengthen the call for concrete actions to end the genocide of Indigenous women and girls.

Red dresses will be hung outside the Jack Bell Building on May 5. If you are on campus, we invite you to take a moment to reflect upon this national tragedy and to think about how we can come together to create necessary change.

Special acknowledgement of Métis artist Jaime Black for her REDress Project which inspired us (www.humanrights.ca/story/five-women-all-canadians-should-know) and of those who shared their stories in the National Inquiry (www.mmiwg-ffada.ca).
