Learners who need to cancel their registration for a course will be offered a 50% credit up to 14 days before scheduled course, which can subsequently be used for any other course in the Continuing Education and Certificate program.

All cancellations should be submitted to sowk.coned@ubc.ca.

Yes, you will receive a certificate of completion for each course you complete, which you can reference on your resume/CV or a professional website. Your certificate of completion for each course will also count toward future micro-credential certificates in an area of practice (i.e., – trauma or family practice), a UBC-certified credential.

There are no formal prerequisites for our continuing education programming, however each course description will describe it’s intended audience and any recommended courses to take prior to the course in question.

Courses being offered will vary between virtual synchronous (live) facilitation, in-person facilitation, and self-paced asynchronous online modules.  Check the course description for these details.

No, you do not need to be registered with UBC to access our continuing education courses. Please feel free to review and register for courses that best suit your professional development.

None of our continuing education offerings provide the learner with university credits, however some future certificates will offer a non-credit certificate credential to the learner.

Yes, completion of our continuing education courses will count towards satisfying your CPD requirements as a registrant of the BCCSW.

Definition of Terms

A confirmation of having completed the designated course, including the number of hours of learning associated with the course. These hours can later be counted toward the completion of a “non-cred micro-credential certificate”.

A certificate program, involving at least 50 hours of learning, which acts as a credential granted by the University of British Columbia. These certificate programs will be available in the future, and will comprise of shorter courses on particular skills relating the area of practice associated with the certificate (eg: trauma or family practice).
