The Routledge International Handbook of Shared Parenting and Best Interest of the Child

The Routledge International Handbook of Shared Parenting and Best Interest of the Child

This is Edward Kruk’s sixth book, and his first co-edited book publication. Comprised of 36 chapters, this multidisciplinary volume offers a comprehensive study of perspectives on the scope and application of the best interests of the child principle, focusing on its application in relation to child custody and shared parenting subsequent to parental separation.

The book explores complex dilemmas inherent in shared parenting and its advantages and disadvantages in different contexts, and provides insight into the current state of research in this area, as well as expert guidelines aimed at resolving the controversies when parents disagree over their children’s living arrangements.

Topics explored include transnational shared parenting; family violence; alternative dispute resolution; co-parenting of infants and very young children; religious disputes between parents; and the psychological, social, and economic factors that affect shared parenting.

The Routledge International Handbook of Shared Parenting and Best Interest of the Child will be of particular interest to child and family social work scholars, graduate students and practitioners, as well as those in law, psychology, sociology, and economics interested in shared parenting and family law.
