The School of Social Work (UBC-Vancouver) invites applications for a full-time tenure-stream position at the rank of Associate Professor, beginning July 1, 2024. Applicants are required to have a PhD in either Social Work or related disciplines, have at least three years social work practice experience and an established record of research and scholarship.
Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to our School’s vision of social justice and ethics of care, and clear contributions to equity and diversity. We invite candidates with scholarly and practice expertise in one or more of the following areas: critical clinical practice; topics relevant to Canadian Indigenous communities including decolonization and Reconciliation; and anti-racist/ intersectional practice. Other more specific areas of specialization that will add breadth to our faculty complement include community and international development, mental health, disability, environmental justice and issues broadly related to inequality and oppression across all of its realms.
We are seeking candidates with demonstrated excellence in research and scholarly activities; a strong record of publications and contributions within the field; ability and interest in high quality, innovative teaching; and a record of, or capacity to establish, effective relationships with the community. Experience in program coordination and international connections are assets.
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active program of research, publication, teaching and student supervision at the graduate (MSW, PhD) and undergraduate (BSW) levels.
The School of Social Work at UBC-Vancouver is a member of the Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE). This position is subject to final budgetary approval. The expected pay range for this position is $11,250 – $12,917/month. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
